Life in perfect balance
Who is at the other end of the scale today? Ruled by Eris (traditionally Venus), Libra is charming and sociable, thriving on the companionship of others. While Libra often loves being in committed relationships, there are times when members of this sign will be driven to ask, "Who am I when I'm on my own?" And so, Libra likes to have its buddies around, if only to avoid the awkwardness of being alone. You won’t find Libra sitting at a bar or restaurant solo, at least not for long, even if at times this might be good for them. If there are people nearby, Libra is quick to seek out a like-minded soul and start up a conversation. Libra wants to be liked more than any other sign and will always find ways to have a large social group, from preschool all the way to retirement.
Because they always like to have someone else on that other scale, always helping to keep them in balance, once Libra forms an attachment, it tends to be one that’s longstanding. Breakups of all kinds are very difficult for this sign, even if the relationship is sour. This sign has a tendency to hold onto toxic connections far longer than they should. They may also jump from one relationship to the next until they learn to master the balance between self and other they always seek.
In the throes of a disagreement, Libra will twist, bend, and do anything possible to restore peace. It’s hard for Libra to recognize its own responsibility for the energy-charged atmosphere it sometimes finds itself in. That’s because the sign of the scales is notorious for its desire to weigh all available options, sometimes to the point of nervous exhaustion. On the plus side, this sign is very good at considering possibilities and making decisions from extensive mental trial and error. They have good intuition and are great at sharing their findings with others.
Libra claims it wants peace, not disruption, but Libras have a way of internally debating an issue to “see all sides,” thus avoiding making decisions and frustrating friends, partners, and colleagues who depend on them. However, they are not Geminis, who are much more at home dispassionately seeing both sides of an issue. The frustration others may feel with this sign's indecisiveness never lasts for long, though, and Libras are usually forgiven, even rewarded, for their good intentions.
It’s a good thing, too, because Libra thinks it needs people almost as much as it needs air to breathe. Whether or not Libra is responsible for the argument, it is happy to arrange a compromise, as long as it’s a fair and balanced solution for all involved. Members of this sign are very good mediators, lawyers, politicians and even teachers because they are so adept at helping others find compromise and creating win-win situations.
Still, a strong Libra is one who can find a way to create balance in its life without always relying on the energy or weight of another person. Different people might come along and fill that role over the course of a lifetime, but in the end, a Libra native can choose to get off the scale any time. The true secret to this sign is that Libra is already weighted perfectly; it doesn't need a counterpart.
