Time to party!
This is a much more "fun" house than any of the others! The fifth house is a bright, cheery place, full of creative pursuits, romantic leanings, playful summer afternoons, and good times adventuring with friends. If you're wondering whether this is a generally "lucky" house to have a lot of planetary presence in your birth chart, your intuition would be correct. The fifth house is traditionally ruled by Leo, whose planetary complement is the Sun—the giver of all life in the solar system.
The fifth house rules many fortuitous and benevolent things. While the categories of young love, children, art, games, fun, theater, and limerence may seem quite disparate, they all have one underlying theme that sums up this house nicely: creativity.
One thing is for certain: natives with a strong fifth house presence in their birth charts are very creative people. This creativity may take the form of a "physical" discipline such as painting, ceramics, drawing, or writing. Creativity can also manifest in personal expression and style—through how one dresses, their fashion sense, choices in love, seeking romantic partners, and even what games to share with friends. The fifth house rules the teenage years in our lives, when all of this creative energy really thrives. Of course, ask any teenager if they are happy, and you'll probably get a much more somber answer. It is not all roses, but there is a certain exciting and stimulating sort of energy that pervades that time in our lives.
Of course, we cannot be perpetual teenagers, eternally trapped in a decade of hormones and burgeoning creative interests and pursuits, but it is helpful to get in touch with our fifth house throughout our lives to add a bit of spice. Life without fun is like soup without flavor. It can be eaten bland, but really, what is the point?
If you encounter someone with a strong fifth house, they will likely have a mild sense of Peter Pan about them—never quite growing up and always keeping a sense of fun and play in their lives. Of course, this side does need balance, but it is considered one of the "luckier" houses, as stated above. If you do happen to have a very well-aspected and strong fifth house, consider yourself fortunate!
